Mortgage Relief Project to Hold Meeting

jg-tc.com | February 20, 2014

CHAMPAIGN -- The Mortgage Relief Project, which is a part of the Illinois Foreclosure Prevention Network established by Gov. Pat Quinn, can help homeowners take advantage of programs to help lower a mortgage, avoid foreclosure and keep your home.

The program has three goals: get consumers to meet with counselors who are struggling with their mortgage; provide education about the foreclosure process; and get homeowners free counselors.

The meeting will be hosted by Illinois State Sen. Michael Frerichs and Illinois State Rep. Naomi Jakobsson. Registration and meeting will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., with registration until noon, Saturday at CityView at Illinois Terminal, 45 East University Ave., Fourth Floor, Champaign.

Free housing counseling will also be offered. Information on how to recognize the tell-tale signs of mortgage fraud will also be a part of the meeting.

Those attending the meeting should bring the following items: mortgage statement, 2011 and 2012 W-2 and tax return with all schedules; copy of rental agreement, if necessary; two months of recent pay stubs; budget of household expenses; documentation of other income; two months of recent bank statements; recent utility bill; and profit-loss information, if self-employed, for the past six months.

To register for the Mortgage Relief Project or to learn more information, call 1-800-532-8785 or visit online at: www.idfpr.com.
